My "Go Home Happy" Pic

Adventure, Families, Seniors

Strengths & Weaknesses

We all have them, it's what makes us individuals!

"Finding myself" as a photographer was kind of a maddening process. If you're a teen, much like the season you're in! Junior high, some great memories and a LOT of awkwardness that I think if given the opportunity, most of us wouldn't revisit LOL. Throughout high school you've been able to try new things, develop new skills, and are growing into yourself, becoming confident in who you are. I don't think this ever really ends! When I'm 90 I'll let you know.

As you prepare to cross into the adult season, you are beginning to know more about yourself- discovering a LOT of jobs, chores, subjects, activities & skills that aren't really "you," and some that come more easily, you enjoy, and maybe you stand out in.

In photography, I began by saying yes to everything. Birthday party? Yes. Wedding? Yes. It's how I got to experience different situations build my skills! It's how learning works. After a bit of this, though, when my skills were solid, I knew it was time to reign it in. I asked God to help me figure out how I can best serve people. Instead of doing a lot of things OK, what things am I doing well, and how can do I do those exceptionally? (Yes, I can do a lot of things well, sometimes very well! But I want to be exceptional.) Over the coming months He helped me get a grasp on the types of photography I find the most joy in (and in turn, do an amazing job in my artistry & service for!)

One specific aspect to my artistry I just realized (this week) is that I do an excellent job capturing is "environmental portraits." It began with the conversation in this podcast here. Yes, we'll get the headshot for your yearbook & your proofing gallery always contains a variety of angles and proximity to the camera. But I'm also going to always be looking for that shot where I can stand back, zoom out, and capture you in the stunning wholeness of your surroundings! These are the shots that I always imagine printed 16x20", framed, and displayed in a place of prominence in your home for all to see, and they are what I consider my "go home happy" pics!

"Be you, everyone else is taken." A well known quote, and spot on. I'm truly happy to be confident in my artistry and super excited to create amazing art with you. Message me here to open the conversation.
